Welcome to 10 Fingers!

Updated: Sep 23, 2020

Hi there,

My name is Victoria and I am the founder of 10 Fingers, a UK charity based in London. Let me start by thanking you for visiting our blog page. We hope as you navigate through our site you will be inspired, learn something new and potentially sign-up to cook for a family with a new born baby.

A little bit about myself, I am married to my best friend, Philip and together we have the privilege of being parents to our beautiful daughter. I am also blessed to be a sister, friend, godmother and daughter. I currently work as a social worker and am a strong advocate for protecting vulnerable young people. Helping and caring for others is second nature to me. My aim is to drive this passion of helping by meeting the needs of mums and their families through 10 Fingers.

I love cooking and trying new recipes whilst perfecting old time favourites. Everything I do falls under the umbrella of my faith. I am a Christian and unapologetically in love with Jesus.

The idea to set up 10 Fingers came after our daughter was born. Those first few weeks all seemed like a blur but one thing I remember was our lovely friends who cooked for us in the evenings. Their act of kindness was a major help during our early stages of parenthood. It was only until months later that I realised the gravitas behind their kind deeds. This got me thinking, there must be many families who would benefit from the same support system in those first few weeks as they settle into their new parenting role.

In May 2018, myself and a team of volunteers cooked our first meal of Chicken Fajitas for a family of four and have not looked back since.

Our team are not professional chefs, however we cook because we enjoy the process and we volunteer to ensure the additional task of cooking is taken away from families who are focusing on life with their new-born.

We would be delighted to hear from you and are always on the lookout for willing volunteers who enjoy cooking for others.

Once again, thank you for visiting our page and happy browsing.
